Kuba cloth is hand woven using the natural raffia fibre. The cloth is renowned for its narrow width, natural color tones and geometric design detail. The cloth is woven by men, whilst women complete the detailed appliqué work. Kuba cloth is unique to the Bakuba community of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The versatile cloth may be used as a throw, wall hanging, table runner or for upholstery. The use of the cloth in fashion is striking. Add an underfelt and the Kuba cloth will complete a passage as a floor runner.
