Tonga bowl are named after the baTonga tribe who weave the basket. Locally grown grasses and palm fronds are used in the weaving of the deep Tonga bowl. The bowl are woven using the over and under method of simple weaving. The basket are then finished off using a coiled rim with a distinctive herringbone pattern. The weaver express their creative spirit in the unique design and construction of each individual bowl.
